When you have the Chamonix valley lift pass, it is easy to catch lifts up and then wander along the sides of the valley. The Balcon Nord runs along the south side of the valley and gets its name from the fact that you look across at the north side when walking on it.
This walk covers the section from the mid station of the Aiguille du Midi lift, called Plan de l’Aiguille, along to the train station at Montenvers.
Just above Montenvers there is a large area, called Signal Forbes, where people have gone mad building cairns.
My photo skills were not very good, and I chopped of the top of the Drus.
